Ronald D. Todd, Ph.D

Ronald D. Todd, Ph.D. is currently the CEO of DWL Associates, LLC, a consultancy supporting teachers and schools interested in implementing and integrating the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Dr. Todd served on the faculty at New York University for eighteen years where he directed teacher preparation and doctoral studies in Technology and Industry Studies. He assumed the role of Research Professor, first at Drexel University, and later in the School of Engineering at The College of New Jersey, he established TIES Magazine, (The Magazine for Design and Technology Education) and mounted a vigorous research and development effort in Design, Engineering and Technology for schools. At TCNJ he managed and developed programs in technology and innovation for public school teachers, and directed the High-Tech, Exploring Design and Engineering Project. He has been engaged for more than forty years in developing programs, materials and activities for enhancing technological literacy and competency of children, teens and adults.

He has served as a project director and principal investigator for projects totaling more than seven million dollars, including three projects funded by the National Science Foundation. Directly related to this effort are the elementary school oriented Project UPDATE (Upgrading Practice through Design and Technology/ Engineering Education) and the UPDATE/ Teacher Enhancement Initiative. The success of these projects were instrumental in securing funding from the New Jersey Commission On Higher Education to develop a K-12 STEM program and the New York State Department of Education for the implementing of the Engineers of the Future Project at Buffalo State College.

Building upon this body of experience, he continues to serve as a lead consultant in Integrated STEM thru DESIGN efforts in New York at Buffalo State College, Baltimore County, Maryland, and the Commonwealth of Virginia. The intent of these efforts is to help young people improve their understanding of science, technology, engineering and mathematics and to help students of all ages to develop the skills and capabilities in design, innovation, engineering and technology essential for a changing world.
